Preparing for Delivery

The Conway Regional Obstetrical Unit provides 16 LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum) suites where new mothers and well newborns are cared for from admission until discharge. Newborns are monitored while in the hospital by a complex infant security system.

You can save time and get your information into the system before you come to the hospital to have your baby by pre-registering at 30 weeks before your expected due date for delivery.

Newborn Intensive Care Nursery (NICU)

We provide a six bed Level II NICU, also known as a Special Care Nursery, that delivers care tailored to premature or moderately ill newborns, ensuring your newborn receives the appropriate level of medical attention while avoiding transfers to higher-level facilities unless necessary.

As a new parent, you may have access to a room near the NICU where you may care for your newborn in preparation for discharge.

Our Level II NICU provides:
  • Respiratory support, such as continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and short-term mechanical ventilation (less than 24 hours) for babies who cannot breathe independently.
  • Intravenous medications and fluids.
  • Feeding support, including tube feeding.
  • Monitoring and care for conditions like mild respiratory distress, jaundice, low blood sugar, or infections.
  • Stabilization and transfer of newborns, to higher-level NICUs if necessary.

Your newborn will benefit from our groundbreaking nursery alliance with Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The Nursery Alliance puts into place coordination of care between neonatologists at ACH’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and physicians in Conway Regional’s NICU and newborn nursery to help further improve the quality of newborn care.

Newborn’s First Photos

During your stay, the nurses will make arrangements for your newborn's first photo. Parents will have the option to purchase photos as well as make them available online for family and friends to see. Conway Regional partner's with Our365 to provide a web nursery where newborn's photos can be viewed with parental permission.
