Perinatal Bereavement

Conway Regional’s Perinatal Bereavement Program offers personal, ongoing support to families whose lives have been touched by the loss of a baby during pregnancy, at birth, or in the first few months of life.

The Conway Regional Women’s Center team understands that every family experiences grief differently. Our program focuses on each family’s needs and respects the cultural, religious, and personal beliefs that shape how they grieve.

A full-time bereavement coordinator works with families to develop an individualized support plan. Our coordinator is accredited by RTS Bereavement Services, and Women’s Center obstetrics staff are trained to support parents through the grieving process.

How We Support Families

The Perinatal Bereavement Program offers many services, including:

  • CuddleCot cooling system that gives families more time with their baby

  • Assessment of each family’s needs by bereavement support staff

  • Help planning a funeral or memorial service for a stillbirth or newborn death through the family’s choice of funeral home

  • Educational materials and grief resources

  • Photographs, memory boxes, birth certificates, and baptism or blessing certificates, as appropriate

  • Support for parents as they decide whether to see, hold, or dress their baby and how other family members may participate

  • Guidance with state-required forms related to the loss

  • Follow-up care or visits with the bereavement coordinator

  • Referrals for additional grief support in coordination with the patient’s obstetrician

  • Age-appropriate sibling support with parent participation

  • Trained support staff available 24 hours a day

  • Support for families navigating anxiety or fear when planning a future pregnancy

Healing Wings

Healing Wings is a free community support group for families who have experienced a loss at any stage of pregnancy, a stillbirth, or the death of a newborn. Led by a certified bereavement coordinator, the group offers resources and a place to grieve alongside others.

The group meets in person on the second Sunday of each month at 3:30 pm at the Conway Regional Health Foundation offices in the Frauenthal Estate, 631 Western Ave, Conway. For more information, call 501-513-5228.

How to Help

The Conway Regional Health Foundation funds the Perinatal Bereavement Program through grants, donations, and memorial tributes. Families are not charged for these services.

Community donations help provide memory boxes, books, and other keepsakes for families. A memory box costs $40, and a book costs $10. To learn more about directing a donation to the Perinatal Bereavement Program, call 501-513-5191 or click here to donate online.
